Paul Green is a research professor at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) and the leader of the Human Factors Group.  There, he conducts research on driver workload, driver distraction, and other topics, summarized in more than 300 publications, mostly technical reports.  


He teaches courses on automotive human factors, human-computer interaction, and ergonomics laboratory methods.  He is the leader of the Michigan Human Factors Engineering Short Course, the flagship continuing education course in the field, now in its 63rd year. 


He is a fellow of Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES), the Chartered Institute of Ergonomic and Human Factors, and is a past-president of HFES and a current member of its Executive Council.  He is a board-certified Human Factors Professional (Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics).  For SAE, he has been the primary author of several recommended practices (e.g., J2944, J2965).
