Tallano Technologies has developed a brake particles collection system, named TAMIC. TAMIC has been designed to trap brake particles directly at the pad-disc interface without altering braking efficiency. It is composed of a brake calliper especially designed for the integration of grooved pads and of an aspiration system where brake particles are trapped. The efficiency of this system has been assessed thanks to the new WLTP protocol, defined by PMP working group: • Emissions have been studied during and outside brake events, with and without Tamic systems. • Fixed and floating calipers have been investigated. • NAO and ECE pads have been tested. Mass and number efficiencies have been assessed on brake rigs. Collection efficiency, impact on friction performances will be presented. Thanks to its design, TAMIC efficiency does not depend on the aerology and in particular on the relative wind speed prevailing in the immediate vicinity of the brake pads. 29 first filling patents covering this technology have already been published. 7 additional patent applications are pending.
