Mr. Xu graduated from Beijing Institute of Iron and Steel Technology, Dept of Iron and Steel Metallurgy, in 1982 and received his master degree in business administration from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), a doctorate degree in engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology respectively since 1996.

Mr. Xu served as Deputy General Manager of ShouGang Corporation HQ; Deputy Chairman of BAIHC; Chairman and General Manager of BAIC; Chairman of BHMC Motor Co.,Ltd.; Chairman of Beijing Benz Auto Co.ltd.; Chairman of BAIHC since Oct 2006;Chairman of Baic Group Co.Ltd (former BAIHC).since 2010;Chairman of BAIC Motor Co.Ltd since 2010.

Mr. Xu was awarded the " Most Influential People” in 50th Anniversary of China Auto Industry in 2003; the "Top Ten Newsmakers of China Economy“ in 2004; the "National Labor Model Medal” in May 2010 and the Most Influential Economic People in China in 2012.
