Dr. Huei-Yen (Winnie) Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Industrial & Systems Engineering at the University at Buffalo, where she directs the Applied Cognitive Engineering Lab and is a Core Member of the UB Institute of Sustainable Transportation & Logistics, UB Center for Cognitive Science, and Team Alice—an interprofessional research team dedicated to advocating and protecting seniors from medication-related harm. Dr. Chen’s research promotes safer and more effective human-system interactions in dynamic, complex environments such as transportation and healthcare. She earned a PhD in human factors engineering from the Dept. of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto, and her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in System Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo.
