Jan-Pieter Paardekooper received the M.Sc. degree in astrophysics from Leiden University, Leiden, The Netherlands, in 2006, and the Ph.D. degree in theoretical astrophysics in Leiden, in 2010. He is currently a Researcher with TNO, The Netherlands, on the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) in connected and automated vehicles. 

Since 2018, he has been a part-time Research Fellow with the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour, Radboud University, Nijmegen, The Netherlands. His research interests include AI safety, neuro-symbolic AI, and situation awareness for AI.
