Dr. Joachim Damasky studied electrical engineering at the TU (technical university) Darmstadt. After gaining his doctorate in 1995, he held a number of posts, including those of product division manager at Hella KGaA and commercial manager at Behr Hella Service GmbH . 

From August 2008 to September 2015 Joachim Damasky served as Board Member at Webasto SE (formerly Webasto AG) responsible for Thermo & Comfort. From May 2016 to June 2022 

Dr. Damasky was the Managing Director for Products & Value Creation at the German Association of the Automotive Industry (Verband der Automobilindustrie e.V. Berlin VDA), responsible for the areasTechnology, Norming, Production, Logistic, Aftermarket, Research and Quality (QMC).

Dr. Damasky joined BMWGroup July 2022 as Senior Advisor Corporate and Government Affairs.

Since January 2023 Dr. Damasky is also Chairman of the VDI Society Automotive and Traffic Systems Technologies.

Dr. Damasky is Board Member of Board Member of DVR German Road Safety Council since 2016
