Marcel Mathissen received his diploma in physics at the RWTH Aachen (Germany) in 2008. In 2012 he completed his dissertation (physical chemistry) at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal (Germany) with highest honors.
Since then, has worked as a research scientist at the Ford Research & Innovation Center in Aachen, Germany. His research interest is environmental science with a focus on non-exhaust emissions (tyre wear, road wear, brake wear and resuspension of road dust).
He has authored 12 research papers and holds 17 patents. He serves as a reviewer for several international journals and worked as an expert for the European Commission.
