Since construction in 2001, Shanghai International Automobile City (SIAC) has become the first-in-China automobile industry base which can provide extensive functions of the entire industrial chain. Supported by solid automotive manufacturing capacity, SIAC focuses its efforts on vehicle development and design as well as the demonstrative operation of new-energy vehicles (NEVs).

By enhancing and accelerating NEV adoption and business innovation, SIAC is achieving constant progress in technology innovation and leadership in the demonstration and innovation of this emerging industry.

In June 2015, SIAC’s built the first national “Intelligent Connected Vehicle Pilot Zone.” In January 2017, Shanghai Municipal Government released Municipal Programs to Implement ICV Innovation Projects to confirm the position, function and key missions of National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Shanghai) Pilot Zone as well as the plan to develop Jiading District into a integrated ICV innovation and application demonstration zone.

As the first international electric vehicle demonstration zone in China, SIAC is earnestly engaged in the demonstration and promotion of EV across the country. EVZONE, a key function of SIAC for test driving, has now been upgraded into an integrated center for customer experience and ICV education.
