Name: Bernat Ferrer

Company: Applus IDIADA

Presentation Title: Characterisation of the Objective Metrics Defining an Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Comparison with the Subjective Assessment of Its Performance (EB2020-IBC-019)

Session: Brake Control, Friday 21st May 2021, 09:00 - 10:40 (Central Europe Summer Time - CEST)

What do you find most interesting about the topic of your presentation?

The application of the Braking Systems expertise to the ADAS Technologies is one of the keys to achieve state-of-the-art AD systems when it comes to comfort. This paper reflects some of the key points usually applied to the investigation of the improvement of conventional braking systems, for the objectivisation of one of the main features in ADAS: the ACC.

When discussing this topic with industry peers, what question are you most frequently asked? How do you answer it?

Objectivisation of the subjective assessment is usually one most discussed topics in this industry. The added value of IDIADA is that the high volume of data generation capability and experts in-house, provides an advanced position for the successful achievement of this task.

Who do you think will be most interested in your presentation, and who would you most like to ask questions about it?

Part of the braking industry related to brake electronic automated actuators, as this will help them to understanding and think about the importance of defining a strategy to improve comfort.

What specific topics or technology are you hoping to see in other presentations or in the exhibition?

Any innovative but realistic approach is always interesting to see. Braking system technology is still important for the deployment of the automotive industry, but needs to be up to date with the rest of vehicle’s areas technological improvements.
