What do you find most interesting about the topic of your presentation?

What I find most interesting about the topic is that the Structured Light 3D Sensor can greatly improve the accuracy and efficiency of the topography measurements. It helps to get more detailed insights in the friction interface and a better understanding of the boundary layer dynamics with respect to chemical processes.


When discussing this topic with industry peers, what question are you most frequently asked? How do you answer it?

How would the data received from the Sensor be processed?

The most important part is of course the denoise process. This goes deep into the new field of data science. Here, completely new possibilities arise.


Who do you think will be most interested in your presentation, and who would you most like to ask questions about it?

I think this could be of interest for every research engineers in the field of brakes. It could also be interest for software engineers working on point cloud data processing.


What specific topics or technology are you hoping to see in other presentations or in the exhibition?

I am interested in the topic about particle transport dynamics in the boundary layer, whether in the field of experimentation or modelling and simulation.

About Chengyuan Fang

Chengyuan Fang is a research engineer in the tribology working group under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ostermeyer at the Institute of Dynamics and Vibrations in Braunschweig, Germany.


He had a bachelor´s degree in mechanical engineering from China University of Petroleum. After that he obtained a master´s degree at the Technical University of Braunschweig, where he is currently working towards a PhD. His current research topics are the tribochemical processes induced by sliding friction.
